God has blessed us with complex and innovative minds. Unfortunately, we see these assets as a means to accomplish our creative imaginations. This view of our abilities is an error planted into our souls since the fall of man. The complexity of our minds is meant to provide the comprehension and execution of worship, as we continually discover the magnitude of God. But instead, we use it to uncover pleasure and self-reward, man’s driving motivation, second only to survival.
We, by default, extend our unctions for survival into pursuits of comfort. So, what's wrong with that? Does God not "want me to be happy?" We assume life is all about our allotted one hundred years, and how much we can sweeten them! More critically, we "assume" we know better than our Maker, how to survive and thrive while here!
It is offensive to the natural man to be told he must relinquish his life to another Authority. But there can be no new life without abandoning the old. New Life in Christ is just that. Nothing in the "here and now" remains of value to the believer. Such harsh and unpleasant thoughts do not align with "modern Christianity," even as "modern Christianity" doesn't resemble Biblical Christianity. Thus, the need for Salvation!
The New Life of Faith cannot be grasped by our senses. Thus, the constant struggle to be “good enough” and appease our need for justification. Ever grappling with benevolence and alms, man attempts to fabricate his own righteousness, in this fallen state! True righteousness comes by Faith. Faith comes by hearing, and this “divine hearing” is learned only by the Word of God.
Man's assumption is a clever tool, perfectly fitted, to bring about his own destruction. But this critical need for salvation is found on a mostly untraveled, Narrow path. And God's Word is the Lamp unto our feet and a Light unto the True Path.
