CHRIST MINDED
"What matters to me? Where are my priorities?"
Jesus taught us that we literally had to be reborn, not physically again but Spiritually reborn! For someone to lessen the significance of this unseen experience, only indicates their distance from the Kingdom of God that Jesus said had βcome near.β Without this second birth, He said, no one would see the Kingdom of God. Nicodemus couldn't understand, and he was highly educated in spiritual matters, but his mind was still functioning in its default state of fallen flesh.
Paul taught us that as new creatures, and having been born into Christ, we should think about things of heaven! He taught, as did Jesus, there is a growing process in the Spirit, as there is in the natural life. To mature in the things of God requires two things: the ability to think in the Spirit, and the desire to acquire maturity. The new or immature believer must grow and mature in the Spirit to have grounded confidence in their salvation. We have been given the mind of Christ, and we will give account for how we've utilized it for the Kingdom.
As the mind of Christ develops in the believer, his faith, confidence in Christ, and knowledge of the things of God begins to eclipse the old value system of the fallen world that is being shaped by fallen man. The natural man can't get his head around such thoughts; they're nonsense to him.
What matters to me? Where are my priorities? Do I lean fully and constantly on the things of God, are those the things that occupy my mind? Those possessing the Spirit of Christ, and those who wear His name, must answer emphatically and enthusiastically, YES! How could we still be interested in the fallen things here? Born twice, we are now the sons and daughters of the real and eternal God!
