There is only ONE Gospel of Jesus Christ, and it has not, will not, and cannot change. It provides an otherwise impossible cleansing and redemption for fallen man. There is no substitute; therefore, the only effective strategy of offense toward it is compromise, and what an effective strategy that has proven to be!
While churches use slick marketing to grow audience, we see Jesus continually weeding His followers. Often, He would stop, look His followers in the eyes, and say something that would cause many to realize that following Him was not thrills, but rather, unconditional surrender of the control of their lives! This would often leave Him with only His original twelve, and perplexity written across their faces.
Jesus wasn't here to be popular, and He didn't come to make us happy. His passion was to rescue fallen man from the deceptive clutches of Satan! This would not be pretty! It would require absolute denial, and future refusal of man’s old ways! It required a certain, premature death! Even the great wisdom of Nicodemus couldn't fathom being “Born Again,” but Jesus told him there was no other way.
All must be forsaken to follow Jesus! He plainly said, though all are welcome to receive this Gift of Life, most would refuse because of the extreme measures and costs it demands. Today, in this finely tuned, highly marketed society, may we evaluate our Walk. There is only One Gospel, with many spins. There are many translations, but only One Writer who must interpret it.
It's not as difficult to grasp, as some suppose. Look far up the road you're on - what's that ahead? What are the long and short-term expectations? Are they heavenly or earthly? Do I worship among multitudes, or are there only a few, sold-out, dedicated seekers? It's time to look for the exit and turn around! The Map said it's a Narrow Way that leads to Life, and few there be that find it!
*******
Strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
~Matthew 7:14 KJV
For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost?
~Luke 14:28 KJV
From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
~John 6:66-68 KJV
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
~John 3:3 KJV
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
~Luke 9:24 KJV
Aaaaamen!!! This was a good one !!!!
Yessir! Unfortunately much of the "church" today has fallen prey to Paul's warning in 2 Tim 4:2-3 -
2 Timothy 4:2-3 (NASB77)
2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires;
Satan's deceptions are alive and destructive!
