IF IT WERE POSSIBLE
"Beware the Great Falling Away"
Jesus warned, in the last days, the deception would be so subtle that “if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect!” So stern a message should be carefully considered, especially when world events are lining up so closely with “end-time prophecy.”
Paul spoke of a great falling away of believers. It’s Scripture, so it can’t be stopped, but we must heed the warning and not find ourselves a part of that “falling away!” The only ones who can stand confidently amidst such deception are those who’s faith has been forged and fortified through fire. A faith that comes from hearing - in the heart- the Word of God.
The New Testament believers faced a lot of hard opposition, often physically. Western Christians, since at least the 19th century, have lived socially preferred lives because of their Christianity. Could the 21st century disciple endure the suffering and “fire baptism” of the early church? YES, the real Christians could…even today. Paul said through Christ we could do all things. That is what the apostle was declaring.
Let us, as the “modern-day” Church, continue to represent the God who never changes, by holding to, and standing on His unchanging Word. There alone will we find a foundation and anchor that is sure to hold us in any storm.
