MY ONLY HOPE
"No more 'wiggle room' for me!"
When I say my hope is in Jesus, I’m describing the only possibility (which has become a certainty), of my permitted entrance into the actual presence of God! The new believer has become a “one-dimensional being,” a Spirit-man intimately dependent on Jesus!
Modern views tend to leave a little “wiggle room” for the flesh in gray areas, or as the song lyrics say, “Habits of life, though harmless they seem.”* This is an effective avenue the devil has used to keep us attached to the world, and as John tells us, “the world passes away, and the lust thereof!” As long as the enemy of our souls can keep us clinging to any tether to this fallen existence, he can effectively diminish our newfound power and authority in Christ!
Jesus plainly said we had to let go of everything to take hold of Him. That’s not unreasonable, especially considering the desperate survival instincts of our sin nature. A drowning man must reach fatigue before he can be saved, and we must “lose our lives for His sake to find them!”
Hopeless! What a beautiful condition for the soul at the feet of a Savior! When I become fully aware of my desperation and doom, I can finally fall into the security of God! It’s not, “all of my eggs in one basket, but rather, all of my eggs in THE basket!” Our awesome Creator will not be our Hope until He can be our ONLY Hope! For when I am weak, then I am strong!

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
~2 Corinthians 12:10 KJV
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
~Luke 9:24 KJV
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
~1 John 2:17 KJV
We are told to approach His throne in the heavenly temple known as the “Holy of Holies!”
Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
~Hebrews 10:19 KJV
