OUR DAILY BREAD
"May we learn again to place our treasures in heaven"
Since man's expulsion from the garden, apart from God’s help, he's been on an all-out effort to recreate his own paradise; a mad struggle to advance, progress, and improve his newly self-controlled existence. God made man very powerful and capable, but once his soul died to God, his unbridled ambition became dominate. Man began building his own tower to heaven, a project interrupted by God. It would appear, in the late 1700’s, God removed His hand and allowed man to fulfill his corrupted heart. Fast forward to the industrial revolution. From drawn water and cultivated food, to bottled water and fast food, with little, if any, remaining knowledge of the God who made him.
When God delivered His children from bondage in Egypt, He loaded them with treasures by plundering the Egyptians, and took them into the wilderness, again to rely on Him for everything! The treasures of the Egyptians no longer held value, except to be melted down and fashioned into idols!
Today, led by Christ, out of our own personal slavery, we cling to the treasures of our old existence, thinking, as did the Hebrew children, that they will somehow elevate or define us; when in Truth, they only weigh us down and eventually become idols. Food and water, once provided solely by God, are now dependent on electricity and internet for their delivery and preservation. Our pantries are full, and now man provides water - purified, bottled, and stored by man, as we mindlessly pray for our Daily Bread!
May we awaken before it's too late. It is a very thin and brittle infrastructure that provides for man's necessities outside of the hand of God! We are living sumptuously in the penthouse of the New Tower of Babel; with everything we need and enjoy, provided by an electrical current.
In Revelation, we are warned of the glamour and excess of Babylon, but the drunk wants only one more...DRINK! May we have eyes to see the snare that has captivated us, and may we find Grace to escape.
Focus us, Father, on Your gold. May we learn again to place our treasures in heaven, and give us this day, our Daily Bread.

And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
~Genesis 11:6 KJV
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
~1 John 2:16 KJV
Give us this day our daily bread.
~Matthew 6:11 KJV
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
