RIGHTEOUSNESS
"The clothing of the saints."
Coming to righteousness In Christ, after being born again, isn’t unlike an alcoholic coming off his habit, as peculiar as that may sound! Those who have been delivered can attest that it takes several weeks for the residue of the toxins, that once infiltrated the brain, to be thoroughly filtered from the blood. It's not until this filtration has taken place that the brain recognizes its new state. A “fog” seems to lift, giving way to a forgotten clarity, a newfound innocence! Even so, when the carnal believer first experiences the Righteousness of Christ, it may take a period of time for the old mindset to recognize the cleansing of, and freedom from the old ways of thinking, with the unregenerate mind!
Paul taught us that Christ didn’t merely take our sin upon His shoulders and bear it, rather Christ became sin, for the intent purpose that we might become God’s Righteousness, through Him! This is a declaration that must be appropriated before the disciple can truly experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
In Hebrews we’re told the scepter held by our King Jesus, is a Scepter of Righteousness! Many believers have never been brought to this magnanimous Truth of the sheer Might and Authority in the presence of Righteousness! Sin not only soils the soul, but it quenches the presence of the precious Holy Spirit. This is why John tells us, when we confess our sin, He not only forgives us, but He cleanses us of all unrighteousness! This cleansing is absolutely essential to being effective and welding our authority in the heavenlies.
The effectiveness of the saints is dependent on their holiness! The sons of Sceva learned this the hard way. Holiness is a byproduct of the Righteousness He has bought for and bestowed upon us. Let us adorn ourselves with the fine white linen of Righteousness, and disperse the darkness about us, that the lost may find The Way!
